When it pays off for a few hours
The typical case is a same-day round trip on the São Paulo–Rio air shuttle: you leave the car in the morning, fly to Rio and come back at night, all within 24 hours, paying a single daily rate. The terminal is about 300 meters away, a 5-minute walk through the covered tunnel, open Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; outside those hours, you walk via the pedestrian footbridge. The location is open 24 hours, so the time of your return flight is not a problem.
On a peak day, book ahead: the lot is underground, with finite capacity, and on holidays and for the first flights of the morning only an online booking guarantees entry.
When the official lot is better
To pick someone up or drop someone off, on a stop of one to three hours, the official parking (Estapar, Edifício Garagem), right by the terminal, is the most practical choice.
